Using Shipping Carrier Rates and API Shipping Calculations (FedEx, UPS, or USPS Rates)

API carrier rates are calculated using your item's Shipping Weight and Dimensions. You will need to make sure that your ChannelAdvisor product data, flat file datafeed, or individual listings, contain shipping weight and dimensions to calculate properly. You can then select to use USPS zone rates or enter your UPS or FedEx API Credentials.

To set your Shipping Carrier select the Shipping Cost Calculation Model in your Seller Dashboard. When setting up a new store you will find this on your Dashboard under Complete Your Store Setup. If you have selected or set a Shipping Method prior you will find this link at the Dashboard under Settings > Shipping Profile on the left-hand menu.

Next, select Shipping Carrier option under Set Shipping Model. You will also need to enter the Lead Time and make sure your Service Options (Standard, Expedited, 1-Day, 2-Day) and the Destination and Regional Restrictions (Non-Contiguous US, APO/FPO/DPO, PO Boxes) are selected as well. Click Continue.

Now you can select your shipping carrier.

If you select FedEx, you will be prompted to enter in some information you can obtain from your FedEx account, specifically, the API Password, API Key/License, FedEx Account Number, and FedEx Meter Number. Once you have entered these, choose your shipping speeds, and select that you ship from multiple warehouses or enter the single zip code that you ship from to properly calculate shipping costs. The system will use the buyer's zip code, and dynamically calculate shipping costs against your carrier account.

If you select UPS you will be prompted to enter in some information you can obtain from your UPS account, specifically, the API Username, API Password, and your API Key/License. Once you have entered these, choose your shipping speeds, and select that you ship from multiple warehouses or enter the single zip code that you ship from to properly calculate shipping costs. The system will use the buyer's zip code, and dynamically calculate shipping costs against your carrier account.

If you choose USPS, simply select the USPS Service Level and zip code to properly calculate shipping when a Buyer enters their shipping destination using the USPS zone rates.

Please note that shipping weights must be provided in pounds as a floating point number (eg. ‘10’). Dimensions must be provided in inches as a floating point numbers, and must use ‘L:W:H’ formatting (eg. ‘15:10:10’). Allowed delimiters are :, |, -, * (inches).
